If you are interested in bird photography, and would like to understand more about photographing birds in the wild, just as you would see them, with nothing set up then this 1:1 bird photo training course may be for you.

You will get the maximum benefit with a 1:1 course rather than a group which is usually unsuccessful when approaching wildlife.

You need to bring your own DSLR and will have some understanding of your camera controls and have at least a 400mm telephoto lens (a teleconverter would also be an advantage). A pair of binoculars would also help. Also bring plenty of patience.

We will get to grips with flight photography and look at developing field techniques to get closer to birds. Depending on the location we may also visit a feeding station where bird regularly come and feed within a short distance.

This is a practical days photography training out in the field and you should come prepared for possible cold wet weather. We have a number of locations some of which provide shelter and facilities.

A wide variety of birds will be found depending on the season and location of visit
Please note that we are ethical bird photographers are do not erect hides at nest sites, or disturb birds in other ways. We do however keep to main routes or visit permanent hides.

We choose a location, some of which are likely to produce the birds you want to photograph, such as wildfowl, waders, moorland or woodland birds.

If you have mobility problems and need to use either walking aids or a wheelchair, we do need you to tell us this at the time of booking. This makes it much easier to accommodate your requirements. On our practical events this is for your own health and safety, as at certain times of year or after high rainfall there may be issues for those who are not so sure footed.

We try to make our events as accessible as possible for people of all mobility levels.
